Royal Family facing ‘biggest scandal since abdication’ | Politics | News
He was making a comparison to the abdication of King Edward VIII, who gave up the throne to marry the twice-divorced American, Wallis Simpson. At the time it threatened to collapse the Monarchy, and is widely regarded as a significant period of crisis for the Royals.
New photographs released in the so-called ‘Epstein Files’ appear to show the former Prince, brother of King Charles, crouching over a woman, whose face has been obscured. It has been reported that the pictures had been taken in the disgraced financier’s mansion in New York City.
Mr Farage insisted that Andrew must face the law on the same terms as any other member of the public, saying: “If that is valid, if there is a genuine justification for making that complaint, and it is not vexatious there is no reason why his treatment by the law should not be exactly the same as all the rest of us, and I think the country would agree with that absolutely overwhelmingly.”
Heaping praise on the King, the Reform UK leader added: “The King has acted relatively quickly on all of this, and thank goodness, frankly, that he did.”
Andrew was stripped of his royal titles over his relationship with Epstein, who was convicted of sex trafficking before taking his own life in 2019.
He has subsequently appeared numerous times in the compilation of evidence gathered by US authorities, and is facing mounting calls to appear before congress and testify.
The former Prince has consistently denied any allegations of wrongdoing. Many high profile individuals are named in the Epstein files, and appearinng in them does not imply wrongdoing or knowledge of the mans crimes.
