Sadiq Khan’s grooming gang denials spark furious protest at City Hall | Politics | News

Sir Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, faces the London Assembly today after a Daily Express investigation revealed that grooming gangs could be operating in the capital.

Earlier this year, in January, the Mayor denied that any such gangs operated in the city, saying that there were “no reports” or “indications” of gang activity in London, as seen in towns like Rochdale and Rotherham.

Last month, the Metropolitan Police Force announced it would review some 9,000 cases, despite the Mayor’s earlier denials.

Today sees the Mayor facing London Assembly Members, including Susan Hall AM, who questioned the Mayor on the issue multiple times, first in January, when the Mayor told her that such groups did not exist in the city.

The Daily Express will be live at the meeting, bringing you the latest as the London Assembly questions the Mayor.
