Porro had the ball on the right side of the French half, waiting for the picture to assemble in front of him, and passed it crisply into Dani Olmo’s feet at the edge of the penalty area.

Olmo felt the contact from Dayot Upamecano at his back, drawing his opponent in, and played it round the corner with a gorgeous, velvet touch, cushioning it perfectly.

Porro raced back onto the ball, one-two, and the run wasn’t tracked, with Maxence Lacroix occupied by striker Mikel Oyarzabal.

Porro had acres of space to stride forward and finish coolly past the onrushing Mike Maignan.
