‘Only a bad person would ask a question like that’
Rather than address a local television reporter’s legitimate question about concerns expressed by flood victims, President Donald Trump erupted at the journalist and turned to the comforting tones of a pair of sycophants he’d brought along in the press pool.
When the journalist, who works for a local CBS affiliate, informed the president that families of victims were “obviously upset” because emergency alerts “didn’t go out in time” on the night of the floods, Trump lost his temper, telling her: “Only a bad person would ask a question like that, to be honest with you, I don’t know who you are, but only a very evil person would ask a question like that.”
He claimed the flood, which was similar to another damaging event that occurred in the same area in 1987, was a thing that had “never happened before” and said he’d “never seen anything like this” before calling for the next question from Brian Glenn, the political commentator who is the boyfriend of Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.
