Tory conference LIVE: Robert Jenrick teases huge announcement | Politics | News

Robert Jenrick will vow to abolish the Sentencing Council to tackle “two-tier justice” in his Tory conference speech today. The shadow justice secretary is due to give his speech to delegates in Manchester at 11.40am.
Mr Jenrick is expected to say the council, which is responsible for setting guidelines on sentencing, is “not fit for purpose” on Tuesday as he sets out plans to scrap it. He will say: “Never again can the British people face the prospect of two-tier justice.”
Mr Jenrick will also pledge to crack down on “pro-migration bias” in the judiciary, by sacking lawyers who are involved in “political activism”, such as campaigning for open borders.
