US Open final live: Carlos Alcaraz v Jannik Sinner โ€“ score and tennis updates tonight with Trump in attendance

Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 3-6, 3-0 Jannik Sinner*

Early chances for Sinner here, as Alcaraz rakes a return wide for 0-30.

He takes the next point though, with a superb sliced smash that curls away from Sinner at the baseline. Worth watching a highlight of that one!

At 30-all, Alcarazโ€™s first serve goes out but he takes the point for 40-30.

Oh my word! What a winner this is. One of the points of the match to make it 3-0!

Three solid backhand returns before Sinnerโ€™s drop shot forces him to the net. He has the pace to return it but it looks like the Italian will land a simple passing shot โ€“ but he doesnโ€™t, as Alcaraz volleys it at the net for the game!

The Spaniard holds, and itโ€™s advantage to the Spaniard for now.

BREAK! *Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 3-6, 2-0 Jannik Sinner

A fist pump from Alcaraz as he approaches the net and the pressure pays off, with Sinner hitting the net to make it 0-30.

Sinnerโ€™s next serve is too much though, taking it to 15-30, before he unleashes a superb second serve on the next point to work Alcaraz wide before hitting a shot out of range. 30-all now.

However, thereโ€™s an early break point chance here as the Italian goes wide with the cross-court return!

And the Spaniard takes it! Sinner canโ€™t believe heโ€™s missed it!

The Italian goes big on the first serve and Alcaraz somehow finds the return, though it sets Sinner up for an easy forehand winner. Somehow he misplaces it, and we have the first break of the third set!

Alcaraz takes the 30-15 lead in his service game but a superb Sinner forehand right down the line forces him into the mistake for 30-all.

The Spaniard crushes a forehand back down for 40-30, though and the celebration tells you all you need to know.

SECOND SET! Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 3-6 Jannik Sinner

Turning point? It may have came when Sinner faced a break point right at the start of the second set. Alcaraz could not get his return in play and Sinner began to claw his way back.

After ending the run of Alcaraz points on serve, Sinner finally won an exchange that had the crowd on its feet as he swatted a forehand winner crosscourt, with a previously unflappable Alcaraz losing his serve for just the third time at the tournament with a forehand long.

SECOND SET! Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 3-6 Jannik Sinner

A cracking forehand sets up Sinner for the game, though he falls for the slice on the next point and overcooks his return to make it 15-all.

The next rally is one of the points of the match so far, ending after Sinner gets to the net to return the drop shot before jumping into a backhand volley to take the point.

He fires an ace to take it to 40-15 and set point…

And weโ€™re level after Alcaraz overhits a return!

Two great serves โ€“ the first of which is an ace โ€“ puts Alcaraz in a good position at 40-15.

He canโ€™t find the return on the next point, but itโ€™s no matter as he rifles in another ace to take the game.

It hasnโ€™t changed a lot though, as Sinner will still serve for the set.

Sinner to serve next, with the second set in sight for the Italian.

Heโ€™s not having it all his own way though, as he rifles long for 15-30.

He saves the next point for 30-all, pegging Alcaraz back into the corner before the Spaniard makes the error.

And he wraps it up after another Alcaraz error. Sinner is one game away from his first set.

Better from Alcaraz after he goes 30-15 up with some lovely net play, volleying over after a great approach.

His next serve is too good to return and he then wraps up the game with an ace.

Irritation on the face of the Italian as he double faults for 0-15.

No matter though, as he plays a brilliant shot around the next to force an error from Alcaraz.

And it seems like heโ€™s really growing into it now, rifling a cross-court forehand in for 30-15.

Alcaraz hits the net for 40-15 before the Italian does the same on the next point, but Sinner wraps it up!

What a change in mood and atmosphere we have now.

A superb return is followed by a poor one and Alcaraz finds himself 0-15 down.

And Sinner announces himself in the match on the next point! Standing ovations as he gets down well for the forehand half-volley before cushioning a volley across the court for 30-0.

Alcaraz goes long on the next point and weโ€™re at 0-40! Three break points!

And he takes it! A superb game from the Italian, firing a superb passing shot to take the game to love.
