Karolína Muchová (10) was jubilant after her straight-set victory over Naomi Osaka (14). She spoke about the nerves trying to close the match out and her love affair with the grass courts.

“I don’t know if you know guys but played three times on this court and it’s 0-3,” said Muchova in her on court interview. “I didn’t have a good relationship with this court.

“We finally made it today. We got that win. Thank you for the support, it was unbelievable.

“Oh my gosh, I was nervous. She (Osaka) is an unbelievable athlete. We know each other pretty well. You can’t lose that focus. If you give her a little chance, she takes it. All the best to her. She’s a great tennis player.

“I love grass, the season is so short for us so I try to enjoy it.”
