World Cup Today: Live news and updates as we count down to tournament opening ceremony

Germanyโ€™s national team players have offered free transport for their supportersโ€™ travel to the final group game of the World Cup, as per The Athleticโ€™s Sebastian Stafford-Bloor.

Julian Nagelsmannโ€™s side will play Ecuador in New Jersey on June 25. Debates surrounding the price of transfer tickets in this area from downtown New York to the New York/New Jersey Stadium have intensified in recent weeks.

Currently, a bus ticket for the journey costs $20, while a round-trip on the New Jersey Transit train will cost supporters $98, despite normally costing โ‚ฌ12.90.

At the Euros in 2024, hosted in Germany, local train travel was free with a valid match ticket.

This act of recognition should hopefully solidify the unity between the national team and the supporters. The 2014 winners have crashed out at the group stage of the two previous World Cups in 2018 and 2022, but will be hoping for a far better performance at this yearโ€™s tournament.
