Zack Polanski ‘liked’ posts on ‘how much does Israel PAY Starmer?’ | UK | News

Green Party leader Zack Polanski repeatedly endorsed social media posts alleging Sir Keir Starmer was in the pocket of powerful Jewish figures.

Published on Bluesky — a left-leaning rival to Elon Musk’s X — the posts included claims Sir Keir was receiving money from “Zionist philanthropists” and the question: “How much does Israel pay him?”

It comes as the Greens battle a deepening antisemitism crisis, with party candidates for the 7 May local elections having compared Jewish people to “cockroaches,” promoted conspiracy theories around the October 7 attacks and branded Zionism “the Nazism of our time.”

What posts did Zack Polanski like on Bluesky?

An analysis by The Economist found Mr Polanski has liked nearly 35,000 posts on Bluesky since 1 April 2025. Among them was a post from 9 November 2025 by a user called Urris, written in response to an interview in which Mr Polanski said he would not work with Sir Keir.

The post is understood to have read: “Starmer and his corrupt Cabinet receive large sums of money from Zionist ‘philanthropists’ and private healthcare who, apparently, don’t expect anything in return.” It attracted just two likes — one of which came from Mr Polanski’s verified account.

According to the Telegraph, on 24 April 2026, Mr Polanski also allegedly liked a post by user falconer59 which said: “What a disgrace Starmer clinging to the same old trope,” before adding: “How much does Israel pay him?” His was the only account to like it.

A day earlier, he appears to have liked a third post — since deleted along with the account that posted it — by user ChayBristol, which referred to “Labour Friends of Israel and their paymasters” and called for Starmer to go. Labour Friends of Israel is a group of MPs and peers within the party who work to strengthen ties between Britain and Israel.

What has Zack Polanski said about the antisemitism row?

A Green Party spokesman said: “Zack makes no apology for highlighting the close relationship between Israel and the Labour Government, which has led to Labour and Keir Starmer arming and supporting a genocide — a bit more of an issue than liking some social media posts.”

The Green leader, who is himself Jewish, said antisemitic abuse had followed him throughout the campaign. Speaking to broadcasters on Sunday, he described how at a rally in Hastings “someone did a Nazi salute in my direction,” adding: “This is not an abstract, philosophical conversation for me.”

A Labour Party spokesman said: “Zack Polanski has spent weeks defending the indefensible. The Greens have offered their full-throated backing to a string of antisemitic candidates. Now Polanski is endorsing these grim conspiracy theories online. He should be utterly ashamed. It shows he is simply not fit for high office.”

What is Sir Keir Starmer doing about rising antisemitism?

Sir Keir is hosting a No 10 summit on Tuesday on the issue, drawing senior figures from across public life — including business, policing, higher education and the arts. The move follows the Golders Green attack in which two Jewish men were stabbed.

The Prime Minister is expected to warn of “a pattern of rising antisemitism that has left our Jewish communities feeling frightened, angry, and asking whether this country, their home, is safe for them.”
