Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has criticised Green party leader Zack Polanski for sharing an “inaccurate and misinformed” social media post about the way his officers arrested the Golders Green terror suspect. Mr Polanski shared a social media post stating “officers were repeatedly and violently kicking a mentally ill man in the head”.

The move sparked outrage on Thursday morning, with critics claiming it “shows why his Green Party is so dangerous”. It comes as two candidates for the left-wing party were arrested on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred when they allegedly posted anti-Semitic comments online.

Lambeth council candidates, Saiqa Ali and Sabine Mairey have been detained by the Met Police.

In one post Ms Ali shared an image of an armed Hamas-headband wearing man under a slogan “resistance is freedom”.

Hamas is a terrorist organisation.

Ms Mairaey posted an image of a man holding a placard saying “ramming a synagogue isn’t anti-Semitism, it’s revenge” above a picture of two children that it says have been “murdered by Israel”.

Scotland Yard has praised its “brave” officers for tackling the Golder’s Green knifeman and released footage of them taking him down using a Taser.

They were seen kicking him in the head in a bid to get the assailant to drop the knife.

But Mr Polanski reposted an X comment that said: “So essentially his officers were repeatedly and violently kicking a mentally ill man in the head when he was already incapacitated by a Taser.”

Tory MP Neil O’Brien blasted: “As usual, the Greens’ sympathies are with the terrorist rather than the brave police officers stopping him.”

The attacker, who had a history of ‘serious violence’, launched himself at an elderly man next to a bus stop and repeatedly stabbed him.

He also stabbed another man, in his 30s, and charged at “everyone around him”, including police officers.

The victims were last night named as Nachman Moshe ben Chaya Sarah and Moshe Ben Baila. They were said to be stable in hospital last night.
