Zack Polanski should be having his collar felt over Farage pic | Politics | News
Green Party leader and all-round oddball Zack Polanski was so distraught by the fatal attack on Ann Widdecombe he immediately demanded extra security for himself. Of course, he offered pro-forma sympathy and pearl-clutching words that violence against politicians was unacceptable.
Then, 20 days later, he re-posted a picture on his social media which, to any sentient being with even the faintest grasp of British politics, was a call for Reform leader Nigel Farage to be killed.
The T-shirt in question carried an image of a guillotine with the slogan โWeโre only making plans for Nigelโ โ geddit? (Some idiots have suggested it is merely innocently referencing the XTC new wave classic Making Plans for Nigel โ but Iโm old enough to have a copy of that particular 7โ and I can assure you thereโs not a guillotine in sight.)
So I truly hope that by the time you read this the eco-plonker who thinks he can make womenโs breasts bigger by mind-control, is having his collar felt by the old Bill. In a country which happily jails a woman for saying mean things against nobody in particular, promoting this image which clearly calls for harm against one of our most senior politicians (and friend and colleague of Ms Widdecombe) should surely get him some jail time right?
Phooey. As if. Nothing will happen, you know that, I know that, the cops know that. Zack, for whom the spotlight seems more a reason for entering politics than, say, environmental issues, has now condemned the pic. But not before sharing the series of now-deleted pictures from a party event with his 713,000 followers. (Which also of course suggests the actual wearer of said T-shirt was at the Green Party event. Nice company youโre keeping Zack).
A Green Party spokesperson said: โOnce this image was brought to [Zackโs] attention, he immediately unshared the post. He unequivocally does not support this type of dangerous message.โ
Which might land better if he didnโt have form for this. Polanski was forced to apologise after a re-post on X which accused Met Police officers of violently kicking a suspect amid the Golders Green anti-semitic stabbings.
And he apologised for not paying the correct Council Tax while living on a barge in east London. And he apologised for falsely calling himself a “spokesperson” for the British Red Cross. And he apologised for claiming he could hypnotise women into having bigger breasts (the creepy weirdness of which just never goes away does it?).
And the worst thing for me? After a week of people-pleasing new boy Burnham in charge, the first week for years when a teeny bit of the stupidly glass half full bit of your brain started thinking โฆ yโknowโฆ maybeโฆ Polanski has reminded us modern political lives are nasty, brutish and short.
Polanski has the nasty and brutish bit nailed. Letโs hope he completes the set and the Greens can stop being the Polanski show and go back to being a useful environmental pressure group. However, in this case at least, we’re still waiting for an apology.
