So why exactly did Avanti-using-Andy Burnham crumble to Aslef and give train drivers on the West Coast a 3.6% pay rise, time and a half for working on a Sunday and another £720 if drivers work a fifth day in a week on top of the handsome full-time salary they get for a four-day week?

Is it because he uses the Manchester to London lines? Or is it because he’s just opened the white elephant Number 10 of the north in Manchester and all those civil servants commuting there from London need to get to work and back home each night without delay?

Whatever his reason for caving in to Aslef, it won’t be long before all the unions know Burnham is a soft touch and keep coming back for more.

Chancellor John Healey is being accused of hypocrisy.

He resigned as Starmer’s Defence Secretary saying the government had not put enough money into the defence budget to keep the country safe, yet now he is in charge of the purse strings he is indicating there will still be no more money going into defence.

Healey is happy to stay put and say nothing. I wonder why that is. At the time I said John Healy’s resignation was key in removing Starmer and making Burnham Prime Minister. Maybe Healey’s resignation had nothing to do with the defence budget and everything to do with making Burham PM and him Chancellor.

Susanna Reid let her hair down in Ibiza, and why not. On holiday with her two sons, she indulged in a few cocktails celebrating her morning show being shortlisted for an award, and posted a sexy picture asking fans to show their appreciation and vote.

She might have had a few drinks but she certainly knew what she was doing to get GMB viewers voting. Good for her I say.

More mosques on the way

Here’s a sorry tale. Each year in the UK approximately 20 to 25 CoE churches close permanently and around 10 to 20 new mosques are registered and open.

One such new mosque is the conversion of a local Grade II listed pub in Norwich.

The proposals have sparked concern from some locals who argue there is another mosque less than half a mile away on the same road.

If politicians can’t see the changes on the ground due to uncontrolled mass immigration, the locals can, and it is changing the nature of too many communities against their wishes.
