Suella Braverman has penned a memoir which she has promised “doesn’t pull any punches”. The Reform UK MP described the book – titled Patriot: Empire, Betrayal and Hope – as an “honest account” of her career in politics and hopes for the future.

The former home secretary was on the frontline for key moments during the last decade including Brexit and the Covid pandemic. The book, which will be published next month, also covers her ancestry and life growing up in Britain.

She writes about how the British Empire was a “force for good” for her family and her “gratitude to Great Britain and British patriots”.

Mrs Braverman said: “This book is my story. From the journey of my ancestors under the British Empire 150 years ago to serving as Home Secretary in the last Conservative government, this story is about why I owe everything to this country and the people who made it.

“I’ve also spent a decade ‘in the room’ where crises unfolded and promises were broken by those entrusted by the British people.

“This book doesn’t pull any punches – it’s my honest account of what I witnessed, what went wrong and what I still believe we can put right.”

Mrs Braverman, who worked as a barrister before entering Parliament, was first elected as the Conservative MP for Fareham in 2015.

She held a number of roles in the last Tory government between 2018 and 2023 including Brexit Minister, Attorney General and Home Secretary

In January, she defected from the Conservatives to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK and is currently the party’s education, skills and equalities spokesperson.
